The Bluff

A woodland crossing that makes the journey between two towers part of the adventure.

ADA Stepped Access provides an approachable way into the structure, while the tilted climber offers a more challenging alternative. A tactile butterfly panel and two different descents bring additional variety to this compact two-tower playground.

Choose a Side and Cross Over

Bluff can be entered from either end, allowing children to decide how they want their journey to begin.

The ADA Stepped Access provides a clear and predictable route to the first 44" platform. Following transfer, broad steps and supportive handrails help children move gradually into the elevated play area and join friends travelling through the structure.

At the top, the Tactile Butterfly Play Panel introduces a quieter sensory experience. Children can explore the contrasting textures, trace the butterfly’s shape and use the colorful flowers and details as inspiration for imaginative play. The panel also creates a natural place to pause and interact before continuing across the playground.

The canopy crossing connects the two towers and turns the journey between them into a balance challenge. Children move along the narrow timber crossing while using the rope handholds for support. The ropes respond to movement, encouraging children to adjust their grip, pace and body position as they make their way across.

Children can approach the crossing from either direction, meet friends travelling the other way or return across it several times. Because the journey requires concentration without prescribing exactly how quickly children should move, each child can find a pace and technique that feels comfortable.

At the opposite tower, the tilted climber provides another way into the elevated route. Its angled timber rungs ask children to coordinate their hands and feet, shift their weight and maintain control as they climb toward the platform.

The two towers become gathering and decision-making points within the play. Children can pause to look out, wait for a friend or decide whether to cross again or return to the ground.

From one tower, the slide offers a long glide back to ground level. From the other, the fireman’s pole provides a quicker and more adventurous descent that calls for grip, body control and confidence.

Together, the two entrances, central crossing and two exits create a simple but rewarding play loop: climb, explore, cross, choose a way down and return from the other side.

The Play Experience

• Enter the elevated play route through the ADA Stepped Access
• Explore contrasting surfaces and details on the Tactile Butterfly Play Panel
• Climb the tilted timber rungs while coordinating hands, feet and body position
• Cross between the two towers along the narrow timber canopy crossing
• Use the rope handholds to steady the body and adjust balance
• Approach the crossing from either direction and share the route with other children
• Gather on the elevated platforms to socialize and decide where to go next
• Choose between the slide and fireman’s pole for two different descents
• Circle back to enter from the opposite side and experience the playground in a new direction

Designed to Blend in Outdoors

Bluff has the character of two small woodland lookouts connected through the trees. The paired timber towers create a recognizable destination, while the open canopy crossing preserves sightlines through the playground and allows the surrounding landscape to remain visible.

Sustainably sourced laminated timber gives Bluff its natural warmth, grain and texture. Colour is used thoughtfully on the slide, butterfly panel, handrails and tower details, adding visual interest for children without overpowering the appearance of the wood. The result feels playful and inviting while blending comfortably into parks, schoolyards and natural landscapes.

Optional timber roofs strengthen the treehouse character and give each platform the feeling of a sheltered lookout. Without the roofs, Bluff has a lighter and more open appearance.

Paint-free construction allows the natural grain and texture of the timber to remain visible while reducing ongoing maintenance. A 20-year warranty backs the laminated timber poles.

Applications

Bluff is ideal for neighbourhood parks, elementary schoolyards, school-age child care programs and community playgrounds that want varied play within a relatively compact footprint.

Its two-tower arrangement provides more journey and route choice than a traditional single-tower structure without requiring the space of the larger WildWood playgrounds. Stepped transfer access and a more challenging climbing route allow children with different abilities and confidence levels to participate within the same structure.

The natural materials, open crossing and woodland lookout character also make Bluff well suited to campgrounds, wooded parks, trail destinations and outdoor learning environments.
